"STANDARDS
FOR ACCREDITATION"
It is herby declared
that the Indiana Activity Directors Association is the official organization of
Activity Directors in the State of Indiana, and as the recognized official body
we hereby set forth the following standard for accreditation as of August 1976
(revised September 1989).
I. Education
A. Minimum requirement
1. High school
graduate or equivalent
II. Professional training
A. Within one (1) year of employment
persons must have
twenty (20) credits for
continuing education in pertinent
areas of study.
After five (5) years as an accredited
member fifteen (15)
credits are needed in a two (2) year
period.
1. Criteria for
evaluating continuing education will be
established by I.A.D.A.
III. Testing
A. Persons must complete and pass
with qualifying grade,
accreditation exam to
be given by I.A.D.A. at designated
time and place.
B. Persons may take the exam up to
three (3) times if
necessary.
IV. Renewal of Accreditation
A. Renewal will be bi-annually.
B. Renewal will be conditioned by
meeting the continuing
education requirements.
C. Continuing education points must be
submitted to I. A. D. A.
accreditation chairman
by October 1st each year.
1. One (1) point
will be allowed for each hour of
instruction
at
state or district sponsored workshops and seminars.
2. One-forth (¼)
point will be given for attendance or
teaching at inservices or workshops (maximum of
four (4)
in
one (1) year).
3. One-half (½)
point will be given per hour of
instruction at workshops outside our association.
4. One-half (½)
point will be given to each member
attending
district meetings with continuing education programs.
5. Two (2) points
will be given for persons writing
articles published in a professional paper or magazine.
D. One-Half (½) of total accreditation
points must come
from I.A.D.A.
sponsored education.
* You must be employed in the Activities field for at least a year and be a member of the IADA to be eligible for accreditation.
* Requests to take the accreditation test must be submitted at least two weeks before the conference dates.
* The accreditation test is given at our spring and fall conferences. It is not offered at any other time. Accreditation is for two (2) years - expiring at the fall conferences. Once you are accredited you can maintain your accreditation by attending 20 hours of continuing education before your accreditation expires. Ten (10) of these hours must be IADA sponsored workshops.
